Michael White I was born in October , 1945 in Malden Mo. When I was three or four years old, my family moved to Rockford, Ill. I'm the oldest of six children. I have three brothers, and two sisters, one son, and two grand daughters.
I came from a musical family... my grand parents, my great grand parents, my uncles, aunts, and cousins, all played musical instruments, and sang. For as long as I can remember...there was always music.
I started playing guitar when I was about ten years old, and left home when I was fifteen. Now my favorute instrument is the pedal steel guitar. I also play dobro, & Bass, but the steel is the hardest instrument I have ever tried to learn.
At the age of seventeen, I joined the Army, and spent the year 1962 in Korea. I was honorably discharged in 1965.
I went to work for Chrysler Corporation, straight out of service, and worked for 31 years, before retiring, in 1997. Within a year, I had moved to Mountain home. I love it here. I feel like I'm finally "Home." My wife Julie & I share our home with Milly & Blue, our two dogs, and with Snowy, & Squeak our two cats.
I joined the Monday Night Jamboree, and am now enjoying playing Bass in the house band. I look forward to the start of each new season, and playing music with my friends. ~ Mike White
Mike, is such a wonderful addition to our musical family. His spirited style, rocks the house, and when he breaks into a blues song, singing a little, playing a little blues Harmonica, or picking a little on his Gibson, you get a glimpse of what music means to Mike. He becomes the music, and the music...becomes him. ~Bobby Smith
