Red & Linda Murr

Many years ago, in 1943 actually, I was born in Lafayette Indiana. I lived there all my life. My Mother, Rosemary FitzSimons, was also born and raised in the Lafayette area. My Father, Clarence, was born in Texas County MO. We never visited the Missouri area when I was a kid, so after I got my first motorcycle, I rode to the area to see where he was born. I really liked the area, and as I rode further south into Arkansas I had a feeling that "This feels like home".

I married my first wife Leni, in Germany in 1964 while I was in the United States Army. When she and I came to the United States, we made our home in Lafayette IN. We had three daughters and they still live in Indiana. Leni passed away in 1996 and with an amazing amount of luck, I found and married my wife Linda. She is a perfect wife. She is my friend, navigator and soul mate in all things.

We both retired in 1999, me from a large Pharmaceutical company, and a Deputy Marshal position, and  Linda from the Indiana State Police, where she taught the various police departments in Northern Indiana to use the State Police criminal justice computer systems, such as the National Crime Information Center, as well as accessing the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles and the Indiana Criminal Justice system.

As police officers and technology caught up with one another, and started installing computers in the police vehicles, there was more and more need for instructors to teach them how to operate the systems. She was very involved with all of the northwest corner of Indiana including South Bend and Gary Indiana. She was headquartered in Indianapolis and taught Local, State and Federal Agencies.

We have two dogs which we consider our Kids. One is a Golden Retriever which we rescued several years ago in Indiana. The other is a Black Lab who is known as the queen of the house. They are named Frankie and Jesse after the James boys.

Being a Purdue fan, Black and Gold dogs fit just perfect. For Linda, being a Notre Dame fan, (The team that routinely beats up on Purdue in football) she thinks the lab has a bluish tint. Go figure.

The pictures below show the two at approximately their current age, and one shows the black lab when she was a pup, and the golden soon after rescue. The pup needed some mothering apparently.

We moved to a lake community in southern Indiana. After a few years we decided to move to Lakeview Arkansas. Both Linda and I  fell in love with the community. We made many friends with the people in the area, as well as with many of the entertainers around the area, while volunteering at a local theater.

I had the opportunity to learn the operations of the entertainment side of the business, stage lighting, video, and audio, so when Bobby asked me if I would consider helping with the sound at Bel Arco,  I happily accepted.  I hope to provide the best possible sound for the Jamboree, once we get set up.

Linda & Red are the kind of people a community such as ours, is lucky to get.
They give freely of their time, and talents, and are an asset to any cause they contribute to....plus they're just plain good folks!
The Monday Night Jamboree feels privileged to have them on board.
