Bob Grillion
I am the oldest of four children, born in 1940, in St. Louis, MO.  I graduated from Central High School in 1958, and from there moved with my parents, two brothers and a sister to Granite City, Illinois.
I worked various jobs in that area, until 1960, when I entered the Army, serving my active duty time in Germany.

After my tour of duty, I returned to the St Louis area where I joined  the police dept. in 1965.
I spent most  of my working career in law enforcement, and corporate security, in the St Louis area, retiring from the Monsanto Corp. in 1998

I have three children, two sons, and a daughter, and two grand daughters.
I met my wife Julie, while riding my trusty steed( mounted Police horse)
in the downtown St. Louis area. We have been together for the last thirty three years.

My earliest memories of music are of my Dad playing his old Martin guitar when I was four or five years old.
When I was thirteen, Dad bought me a Gibson lap steel, and let me take lessons on it for a year or so.
Later in life, I used to do vocals and play rythem guitar, but working long hours, didn't allow much time for music, and it somehow got lost in the shuffle.

In 1999 we moved to Mountain Home. I had no idea at the time what drew us here, other then the lakes and rivers, but since moving here I've gotten back into mortorcycles, (30 years absence) and ride with our local
ABATE group here in Mountain Home.

However, I was still searching for something...something I couldn't quiet put my finger on. I guess this search started in southern Missouri, when I went to a country music show, and a guy in the band was playing a dobro, the first one I had ever seen.  This caught my eye, because he played with a bar, much like I'd used on my lap steel, so many years ago.
I filed that away in my memory bank; I hadn't played music  for over thirty years, but I couldn't get that dobro out of my mind.

Now, to make a long story short, a year and a half ago, I bought my first Dobro, and started fooling around with it. When I finally got up enough nerve  to attend some jam sessions, in the area, I found a whole new community of friends, all helpful, and encouranging my efforts.

My wife Julie works at the State Prison in Calico Rock. Our family in Mountain Home consist of Julie's Doberman, Leah, my Chocolate Lab, Katie, and our cat Newman.

The Mountain Home area is our home now, no doubt about it. We love the area, and I'm so excited about getting back into music again. Playing with the Monday Night Jamboree folks, is great fun.
I now believe music is why I ended up here. Life is good!
